We have already communicated with you regarding the
arrival of our Avro Avian Hermes eaplane, for the use of our
Company, registration number V R - HA A. He now require to ob-
tein permission from the Chinese Nationalist Government for this
machine to be flown over Chinese Territory, In this connection,
we communicated with General Chang ai Jung, Director, of the
Aviation Bureau at Canton, requesting his support and, that he
would grant us permission to fly between Hong Kong and Canton.
e enclose herewith, copies of General Chang's letter in reply to
ours above referred.
You will note that he suggests that we should approach
the Foreign Affairs Department of the British Government, in view
of the establishment of your Department, we are of the opinion
that our proper procedure is to write to you and request you to
forward our application.
je therefore request, that permission may be aplied for
to the Chinese Nationalist Government for, VR - HA A to be flown
at any time over Chinese Territory, always provided that no camera
guns or, other war equipment are carried, and that the pilot and
machine conform to the usual commercial aviation laws. We would
suggest that notification be made of arrival, to any Chinese port
of call, by telegram, to either the Folice, or the Chinese Customs
